Zsámbék honored the rector of Óbuda University with the Pro Urde Award

Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács received the Pro Urbe Award from László Horváth, Mayor of Zsámbék, on December 3. With the award, the Pest County municipality thanked the head of Óbuda University for his efforts in establishing the Science and Innovation Park, which is being built on the site of the former Russian barracks. The plan to establish the Zsámbék Science and Innovation Park, which has been prepared with more than half a decade of work, has reached the implementation stage – emphasized László Horváth when presenting the award. As he put it: this time is worthy of thanking the work and help done for the citizens of Zsámbék and the settlement. In addition to Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, the mayor honored Ferenc Kassai, the president of the Pest County Chamber of Engineers, with the Public Service Award. Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, thanking for the award, said: the Zsámbék Science and Innovation Park is an exemplary enterprise that serves the benefit not only of Óbuda University or Zsámbék and the surrounding region, but also of the entire nation. The facility will represent Hungarian creativity and innovation in one place, and at the same time it will also be possible to see and try all of this. The investment in Zsámbék can lead to research, development and innovation cooperation that can also involve the industrial partners of the settlement and the region in the university's scientific circulation. Following the completion of the preparatory phase, construction work can begin soon, the rector added. The acceptance of long-term financing by Óbuda University made it possible to launch new developments that lay the foundation for the future within the institution. The university is developing a science and innovation park in Székesfehérvár, Kaposvár and Zsámbék. The development plans of Zsámbék and the ideas of Óbuda University regarding the Science and Innovation Park coincide in many respects. The investment will be implemented in an open and self-sustaining industrial innovation ecosystem and will operate as a service-oriented digital center. Scientific and research incubation centers, business services, technological manufacturing and prototyping, educational and training facilities, and discovery center showrooms will also be established in the designated real estate development area.
