The University Day celebration will be held again at \u00d3buda University on November 20\u201321, 2025. The event is one of the institution's most significant and solemn events, celebrating the founding of \u00d3buda University.
\nThe central ceremony will take place in the university's main building on B\u00e9csi \u00fat, where this year too, the university's excellent lecturers, researchers and students will be honored with recognitions, awards and honorary titles.<\/p>\n
History of University Day<\/b><\/p>\n
University Day is traditionally associated with the anniversary of the founding of \u00d3buda University.
\nIn September 2009, the Senate of the Budapest Technical University decided that the institution met the legal requirements for the title \u201cuniversity\u201d and initiated the recognition of university status. As a result, the Parliament amended the Higher Education Act on November 23, 2009, officially naming the institution \u00d3buda University. The decision came into effect on January 1, 2010, marking the beginning of a new chapter in Hungarian higher education.<\/p>\n
On September 13, 2010, the Senate decided that the university's founding day, November 23, would be celebrated every year in a festive setting, and it was included in the "order of state and university holidays" as an official commemoration.
\nThis is how University Day was created, which has since created an opportunity every year for the university community to commemorate the institution's past, achievements, and future.<\/p>\n

University Day is a celebration of the history, identity and community of \u00d3buda University.
\nThe two-day program series is also part of the Hungarian Science Festival series of events, so it is considered a highlight not only for the institution, but also for Hungarian scientific life.
\nThe ceremony will present the highest professional and university awards - including the Doctor Honoris Causa, the Honorary Doctor, the Pro Universitas awards, and the awards for the most outstanding students of the Scientific Student Association Conference (TDK).<\/p>\n
