The 42nd IASP World Conference in Beijing – a global vision for innovation

  1. September 15–19, Beijing

The 42nd IASP World Conference on Science Parks and Areas of Innovation was held in Beijing, the capital of China, from 15 to 19 September 2025. Experts, innovation parks, science centers and industry players from all over the world came to share their experiences, spark discussions and build a common vision for innovation ecosystems.

The central theme of the conference was how to develop science parks and innovation zones in a way that creates real value for local communities, stimulates sustainable economic growth, and strengthens global cooperation.

Main events, topics and repercussions

At the beginning of the event, conference participants were able to take part in technical visits to various innovation zones in Beijing, where they could gain an insight into the operation of local science parks, technology clusters and urban developments.

The pre-conference training day focused on topics such as organized innovation space models, the integration of innovation districts into the urban environment, and the optimal functioning of science and industry collaborations.

At the official opening, Beijing city leaders, IASP representatives, and technology leaders delivered speeches, highlighting the importance of innovation, collaboration, and sustainability.

During the plenary sessions and parallel sessions, the following topics were on the agenda, among others:

  • Harmony between urban development and innovation spaces
  • Financial and infrastructure models to support innovation
  • Open, international innovation systems and clusters
  • The impact of artificial intelligence and technology trends on communities
  • Talent attraction, sustainability and regional impacts in the next two decades

During the conference, the IASP General Assembly decided that Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, would host the next World Conference in 2027, and the organization's flag was taken over by Dhahran Techno Valley.

At the conclusion of the event, new international agreements were signed, the presidential medal was presented, and the Beijing conference was formally closed.

Experiences for the Zsámbék Future Industry Science and Innovation Park (ZSTIP)

The Beijing World Conference brought not only inspiring professional experiences, but also tangible results: The Zsámbék Future Industry Science and Innovation Park signed a cooperation agreement with the Zhongguancun Fengtai Science Park. This partnership takes ZSTIP's international relations to a new level, as it creates an opportunity for the two innovation ecosystems to work together on scientific and technological projects, share experiences, and jointly seek ways to achieve sustainable development.

The agreement focuses on key areas such as intelligent transportation, energy efficiency, environmental protection and new materials, which are also closely related to Zsámbék's vision of the future industry. Through the cooperation, ZSTIP not only strengthens its role at the domestic level, but also joins the international network of scientific and technological innovation at the regional and global levels.
